Hi, I’m heather

I'm a lifestyle photographer based in the US Virgin Islands, and offering sessions in Georgia, throughout the Southeast US and the Caribbean. Live somewhere else? Contact me - I love to travel!

So what is a session with me like? We pick a place that you love and where you're comfortable - maybe it's your home, an often visited beach, or a favorite hiking trail. You wear something you feel great and comfortable in. (I recommend incorporating bright, coordinated colors, but definitely avoid match-y and anything you wouldn’t typically wear.) We hang out for about an hour, talk, play and I bring my camera along.

During a session, I look for the giggles between siblings, a shared smile between the parents of a newborn baby, the proud look of making a discovery at the beach. My goal is to make images that evoke emotion - in my clients, myself, and anyone looking at them.

I became a professional photographer over 10 years ago and, in 2014, took a break to be a mom, make a major move to St. Croix, USVI and generally to step away from a love that had become a job.

What I learned from my previous photography business - and from the break - was that there was a way I could do photography as a job and still love it. And, most importantly for my clients, continue to find inspiration in the people I photograph.

So that's what I've created today. It's why I don’t do lots of posing, big weddings, matching outfits, Pinterest boards or anything that doesn't feel like a good fit. I only shoot what feels natural, and what I know I can do my best at. I'm happy to refer the jobs that aren’t a good fit to other talented photographers who excel at that type of work (just ask!).

While I no longer shoot large weddings, I am available for elopements and very small, relaxed weddings where the couple is seeking natural, photojournalist images and four hours or fewer of coverage.

I do commercial photography for businesses interested in having their brand represented by lifestyle photography. Please contact me for commercial rates and portfolio.
